ZAN CLAN Members To Pay Tribute To Late CRASHDIET Frontman At Stockholm's GLAMFEST
February 7, 2006Chris Laney and Zinny Zan (ex-SHOTGUN MESSIAH) from ZAN CLAN will be paying "tribute" to late CRASHDIET frontman Dave Lepard during ZAN CLAN's appearance at the Glamfest 2006 festival on February 11 at Klubben in Stockholm, Sweden. Also scheduled to perform at Glamfest are LOUD 'N' NASTY, VAINS OF JENNA and TIGERTAILZ.
"Chris and I want all CRASHDIET supporters to remember [Dave] for his music and not for his tragic death," Zinny said in a statement. "Therefore we will do a very special thing in Dave's memory at the Glamfest."
Dave Lepard (real name: David Hellman) was found dead on Jan. 20 at his apartment in the Swedish city of Uppsala, north of Stockholm. It has been unofficially reported that he hanged himself, although this has not been confirmed.
CRASHDIET was a Stockholm, Sweden-based Eighties hard rock-style band whose debut album, "Rest in Sleaze", entered the Swedish national album chart at position No. 12.
CRASHDIET were reportedly the first "sleaze rock" band in over 10 years to be signed directly to a major company — Universal Music. The group, whose members were said to be in their early 20s, were scheduled to make their U.S. debut in March at the South by Southwest music conference/festival in Austin, Texas.
